In the capitol city, Manila, Open Bible Mission Philippines (OBMP) has now four churches in the south. Some of these churches are in the slum areas at the coast. These churches do a tremendous work feeding and caring for the poor children in their neighbourhood.
OBMP has 17 churches in Leyte. Leyte is one of the bigger islands in the middle of the Philippines. These churches work together for crusades and churchplanting.
On the big island of Mindanao in the south, OBMP is leading a pioneering project among the Mamanwa tribe. Most of the people in five villages have become Christians. The effort is taken to ensure that the children in particular will get nutritional food, training to learn how to read and write and also that they are thought the message of the Bible.
Open Bible is also supporting the Joyful Bible Institute in Davao. JBI is equipping young people who want to go into Christian Ministry. About 20-25 students are currently taking a two-year study. The JBI started in 1991 and is linked to the Joyful Assembly of God, Agdao, Davao City.
Pastor Boy Dargantes (above) is a key person in the work
of OBMP in the Philippines. He is married to Liberty, has 6
children and lives in Leyte. In addition to supporting the
Dargantes family, OB is currently supporting about 10 other
pastors/Christian workers in Leyte and Mindanao.
OB is giving out a free newsletter, unfortunately it is
only in Norwegian at the moment, but pastor Tore Vindenes is happy to provide
information if you have any questions about the
work.
